Moving home is exciting, but it takes planning. Most of the stress disappears once you know what to do and when. This is the checklist we use with our own customers.
One week before
- Book your move early, especially at the end of the month and in summer.
- Order boxes and packing supplies, and get a few more than you think you need.
- Let go of what you no longer use. Every item you leave saves packing and moving time.
- Update your address with your bank and other key services.
One day before
- Pack fragile items first: plates, glassware and electronics.
- Label every box with the room it belongs to.
- Pack a first-night bag with clothes, medicine, chargers and basics.
- Take large furniture apart, or leave it to our team.
Moving day
- Keep valuables and important documents with you.
- Check every room and cupboard before you leave.
- Photograph the condition of the old home before handover.
- Place boxes in their rooms in the new home.
